As it turns out, the images on these pages all stem from a dream: model Shanti Sunrise had a “captivating dream with wild birds” while in the French Alps. “My dreams are inspiration for all my photo shoots,” she told us. “As a model, I don’t want to just be some part of the beautiful photo but try to create compelling worlds of wonder.” She found a ranger who breeds wild birds and who agreed to loan out his small barn owl and larger Eurasian eagle owl, and she contacted Michalina, “my enchantress-soul catcher,” to do the shoot. Michalina immediately embraced the idea.

“We wanted to create a fairy tale story from another world,” Michalina says. She describes the experience: “Before this I’d never had an opportunity to see a real owl or touch it. It was amazing, especially the little one. It was so tiny (it looks bigger in photos), calm, and soft—incredibly soft and fragile. She was just sitting on Shanti’s hand and moving her little head.” Shanti herself was thrilled with the result of the experience. “The whole process was fascinating. I completely lost myself in this photo shoot and totally fell in love with these beautiful creatures. My very own dream came true.”
