Mermaid skin should reflect the hydration and glow from the sea. Think of crème products, highlighters, and a mixture of warm and cool tones. Less is more for a mermaid, so pull back on loading brushes for this look and keep it clean, fresh, and simple.

First thing, you want to hydrate the skin really well using a good moisturizer (I love Laroche Posey). Next, highlight the high planes of the face with MAC Cosmetics’ crème color base; I used Luna, Pearl, Hush, and Improper Copper for these mermaids.

No harsh lines here—everything should be blended and blurry to evoke a mermaid looking up from the bottom of the ocean.

For lip liner and eyeliner I chose soft products: eyeshadow as liner and no lip pencil on the lip, only lipstick applied with fingers.

PRO TIP: Use your fingers to warm up the products to melt in and look like skin.
